Typical Briefing Questions:
What areas will you be teaching: brickwork, plastering, electrical, plumbing, gas, painting and decorating, carpentry, anything else?
Does this double up with any land sector skills?
Will there be central storage?
What assessment areas are needed?
How will deliveries be arranged?
How will waste be managed?
Do workshops need to be double height?
Are seminar rooms required within each workshop or built in a separate location?
Is external space required?
Key Considerations:
- No stable doors to store rooms that open up into escape route/corridor
- No skirting to brick/plastering
- Allow existing building services/construction to be exposed
- Allow space for carrying and storing pipes for plumbing workshop. Possible fire rated hatch through floor.
- Epoxy floor to motor vehicle workshop (paint or resin)
- Unpainted bare concrete to brick and plastering floor
- External store for bricks
- Floor vinyl: antic static to electrical booths
- Storage above electrical and plumbing booths
- Solid wall to be able to fix lead extractor fans
- Design to plumbing booths to guidance issued by City & Guilds
