Vision
Educational Case
The Educational Case identifies projected student demand and outlines the methodology for curriculum delivery to address this demand all in the context of current government initiatives.
This case forms the basis upon which the property vision is formulated.
A college’s three year strategic development plan as approved by the local LSC forms the basis upon which the case is developed.
In particular the Education case should be consistent with the following strategic planning documents, as stated within Guidance Note A to the LSC Capital Handbook, Nov 2006:
- LSC Strategic Review
- LSC Regional Capital Strategy
- LSC Local Capital Plan
- College Property Strategy
The Education Case should make particular reference to (where applicable)
- 14-16 learners;
- 16-19 learners;
- collaboration with schools and other local providers;
- specialist provision for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities;
- Skills for Life;
- Contribution to national Skills Academy or Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE), or the delivery of the Specialist Vocational Diplomas;
- adult education; and
- higher education (HE) provision.
The case should further reference where appropriate the relevant issues in Strategic Area Reviews, Area Wide Inspections and Ofsted Inspections. With regards to Ofsted Inspections the college should ensure they address poor performing areas and maintain/increase the quality of delivery.
The case needs to consider student growth projections three years post construction completion as a minimum and agree the same with the local LSC prior to making a capital application.
On conclusion, the case should also reference the college’s preferred property solution, reasoning why it is necessary to support the college’s educational objectives.
