Child Care

Typical Briefing questions:

Will children be brought to the training facility?

Is the facility catering for a particular age group?

What is the mix between GT classroom and specialist spaces?

Is there a requirement for a nursery garden?

If children are utilising the facility then a Reception for visitors will be required.

Micro level:

Height adjustable baby changing table.

Refrigeration space for food and formula.

Ample wall storage above children reach and design to avoid the possibility of objects falling.

Laundry room

Sleeping area.

Layouts to consider:

The environment that is created must stimulate engagement between carer and child.

The location of the department needs to be private within the college.

An area of 7m2 per child should be allowed for within a Nursery Garden.

All children toilets, hygiene rooms and therapy rooms should be accessed directly off the classroom.
