Support Space
Support space is crucial to the efficient planning and day to day use within a college. The location of support space such as departmental staff offices in relation to general and specialist teaching areas can be beneficial in both overseeing and being seen to be accessible to students.
Similarly support space such as laboratory preparation rooms, dispensaries, dark rooms, stores etc are best located adjacent to the spaces they serve. However, the need to be positioned such that they do not reduce the opportunity for teaching spaces to be adaptable to other uses.
