Flexibility is fundamental to the design philosophy of a learning environment. However, a learning environment cannot simply be a 'shed', it must cater for intimacy. The design must be flexible enough to cater for short term challenge such as altering classroom layouts. It must also cater for long term changes in the curriculum.

Develop the entrance to achieve a 'WOW' factor to create a visual layering fromt the public facade to the private, secure and inclusive teaching spaces. This will envoke a sense of place, direction, and cohesion to the college

Social space is space given over to rest and relaxation, conversation and the informal sharing of knowledge and experience. It can also be space reserved for leisure activities, student support, advice and guidance.
