Construction procurement is the process of identification, selection and commissioning of the inputs required to construct a project. There are a number of alternatives available and each reflect the differences in the allocation of risk and responsibility in relation to the project characteristics.

A Lead Advisor and/or Project Manager should advise on the relative benefits and disadvantages of each option. The choice of procurement should be made early in the process as it can dictate the terms and conditions upon which the project team may be engaged.
